Some games take just a few minutes to master, and Bowling Master is one of them. I started out intending to play just one round, but ended up staying much longer, eager to see if I could land an even better Strike on the next attempt.
On the surface, everything looks familiar: a lane, a ball, and a set of pins at the far end. There are no lengthy introductions or complex features to learn; you simply aim, set your power, and throw.
The beauty of the game lies in the fact that every throw yields a different result. Sometimes the ball goes exactly where you want it, yet pins remain standing; other times, a throw looks like a miss, only to knock down the entire rack.
The early levels are quite gentle, allowing newcomers to get the hang of the controls in just a few minutes.
Things get trickier later on. Even a slight adjustment in power or a tiny shift in aim can completely change the outcome. This forces you to pay closer attention every time you prepare to throw.
In reality, Bowling Master doesn't test your reflexes; success depends more on your touch and observational skills.
If playing on a computer:
If playing on a phone:
The controls are straightforward, so beginners can jump right in.
First, don't rely too heavily on raw power. At first, I always maxed out the power, thinking faster was better, but I soon realized that wasn't the most effective approach.
Instead, focus on exactly where the ball makes contact with the pins. Hitting the right spot with just the right amount of force is enough to trigger a chain reaction.
Another tip is to avoid constantly changing your throwing technique. Once you find a suitable angle, try it a few more times before switching to a different direction.
It may sound simple, but these small details are exactly what determine your score.
If you are looking for a game to unwind during your spare time, Bowling Master is a solid choice. Each round is quick, requiring little time investment, and the controls are easy to pick up.
The game doesn't boast overly elaborate graphics or effects. However, the handling feels great enough to keep players coming back time and again just to beat their own previous high scores.
Sometimes, a game doesn't need a multitude of features to keep players engaged. Bowling Master is one such game.
