Not every game makes players spend a lot of time just... staring at a wall. That's what often happens in Meccha Chameleon. Before finding a suitable hiding place, you'll have to observe the colors, patterns, and even the lighting of the surrounding area to decide how to camouflage yourself.
The game doesn't try to create fast-paced action sequences. Instead, each match is a battle of wits between the seeker and the player trying to blend into the scenery.
In familiar prop-hunting games, players usually transform into objects and then find a place to hide. Meccha Chameleon doesn't follow that approach. The character remains in their original form from beginning to end.
To trick your opponent, you have to use tools to pick colors from the environment and then paint them onto your body. The more closely the camouflage resembles the background, the higher the chances of survival.
It sounds simple, but choosing the wrong location or missing a color patch will render all efforts useless.
When the countdown begins, the Hider team will quickly spread out across the map to find cover.
After choosing a location, the player opens the paint mode, samples the color from the wall or ground, and applies it to the character. Before the preparation time runs out, change the viewing angle a few times to check if the camouflage looks natural enough.
Meanwhile, the Seeker will appear later and begin inspecting each area. Their job isn't to run fast, but to observe. An unusually bright outline or an illogical shadow can be a sign of a Hider.
Don't just look at the colors. Pay attention to the surface patterns as well, as this helps the camouflage look more realistic.
If you've just finished painting your character, take a few seconds to check from multiple angles. Some angles are hard to spot, but others will reveal you immediately.
When playing as Seeker, keep your movements slow. Careful observation is often much more effective than running all over the map.
Meccha Chameleon is suitable for those who enjoy casual games that don't require too much skill. The rules are easy to understand, each game is short, and there are always unexpected situations because everyone's camouflage is completely different.
If you're looking for a change of pace after the familiar hide-and-seek games, Meccha Chameleon can offer a fresh experience thanks to its ability to create its own camouflage instead of transforming into objects.
